LULAC
“All For One And One For All”
BY JANETT PINA
Rider Wrap-Up Staff
This organization was created with the goal to reduce discrimination Mexican Americans faced in the Southwest. The purpose for this program is to have its followers gain enough knowledge about economics, educational attainment, political influences, housing, health and civil rights of the Hispanic population in the United States.
LULAC is here at RHS. As our sponsors, Ms. Nava and Mrs. Gomez want to help students pursue a higher education. They also wanted to get more Hispanics involved in school activities. The meetings are most likely going to be on late starts due to other clubs along with sport activities. In these meetings they plan on activities that give back to our community.
There is no student left behind, so if anybody is interested come and join; it will be a lot of fun and a great opportunity to truly take a stand in life. It is an organization led by students, which is formed by a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and a historian.
The President is Crystal Soto, Vice-President Luis Tavizon, Secretary Briana Derrera, Treasurer Janett Pina, and Historian Valeria Corral.
There is a LULAC Youth Conference at UNC on September 25, so if you are interested in going to this event, sign up with Ms. Nava. It will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
