The Roosevelt Rough Riders are off to a 2-3 start (2-2 in the conference) after playing five games this season. If you couldn’t make it to any of their games, home or away, then here’s a recap of their season so far. Roosevelt started their season off with a close loss to Platte Valley 7-6.
The Riders came back home to Johnstown the next week to top off a win against the Sterling Tigers 28-0. The Riders went back on the road the next week to face the Silver Creek Raptors, falling 33-31. The Riders remained on the road again to play the Frederick Warriors, winning 20-8. On homecoming week the Riders faced off against the Berthoud Spartans for our homecoming game. Last year the Riders fell to Berthoud 21-16.
This year the Riders were hoping to take their second straight win. However, a late second half touchdown gave the Spartans a 26-22 victory. Last week RHS headed on the road for a game against the Windsor Wizards. They were able to battle the talented Wizards to a 12-12 tie after regulation, but the weather elements and Windsor proved to be too much as the Riders lost 18-12.
Next week they will travel to Greeley to take on Northridge. They will come back home October 23 to play the Fort Lupton Blue Devils. Their next opponent will be on the road against the Fort Morgan Mustangs. The Riders will finally play their last regular season game against the Mountain View Mountain Lions.
