As spring sports start, it looks as though baseball is going to be a sport to look forward to. The team is shaping up to be a possible contender in the chase for the postseason.
With a lot of our seniors looking to get one more sport to place high, baseball is a good sport to root for as spring goes on. They have some real athletes this year that are ready to win another one for our baseball team.
It would also be nice to win as a 4A team for the first time, since the last time we got first we were only a 3A baseball team.
Winning as a 3A team is still impressive because in the end you still play the best teams but we all know it looks and is better to win as a 4A team.
Last year they made it to the Final 8 even though it was their first year in 4A. They have started off with a few good scrimmages and a win already. However, after five games, they sit at 2-2 in the conference and 2-3 overall.
The Riders will have a busy week ahead, hosting Niwot on Monday, traveling to Silver Creek on Tuesday, hosting Fort Morgan on Thursday, and ending the week with a trip to Berthoud on Saturday.
This is one of those years that we as fans can watch some exciting baseball while eating seeds in nice cool weather.
The RHS varsity roster includes seniors Cole Cunningham, Logan Diemert, Mike McSwain, Daniel Polverari, Ryan Ghesquiere, Cole Wadsworth, Dillon Yoder, Zach Wilson and Tyler Hishinuma.
Juniors on the team are Brandyn Hernandez, Colton Gibson, Greg Hassell and Fily Perez. The lone full-time sophomore on the team is Jalen Davenport.
