The wrestling team this year is off to a great start in their season, and we can always count on them to pull through with some wins.

Some of the coaches of the Roosevelt wrestling team are Mr. Kratz, Mr. Pallotto, Mr. Hankins, and Brian Young.

In taking with Mr. Kratz about this season and how he feels the wrestlers are doing this year, he stated, “We are having a really good season, we have surprised a lot of people this year.”

He said he thought they would do really well at state, but none of them are easy because you always have to wrestle your best at every match.

Mr. Kratz stated, “The hardest teams are the ones you expect to be easy, but then they pull through and wrestle really well.”

The team that Roosevelt wrestlers always go in expecting to give their all in state is Broomfield though. Senior wrestler Jeff Kielian was asked about his wrestling career over the years. “I was, and still am, a lot better at wrestling than I am at basketball.” Jeff has been wrestling since he was 6 years old and has always really enjoyed it.

He said the season this year has been going very well compared to previous years of wrestling. He has had about 20 wins this season so far and his personal best so far was when he took second at State. He is wrestling at 145 pounds this year, which he said is ALL MUSCLE.

Some of his secrets for success are that, “I eat very healthy and work out A LOT.” Even though Jeff Keilian is and has enjoyed his wrestling career, he does not plan on continuing it in college.

All the wrestlers at RHS put everything they have into it during wrestling season and it shows at State. Good luck wrestlers. Let’s pull out a good win at State!
