THE BOYS OF FALL
Riders’ new offense off and running
BY SCOTT GARDNER
Rider Wrap-Up Staff
This year the Roosevelt Rough Riders football team started the year out strong against Platte Valley with a 27-6 win. The Riders showed off the new offense that coach Noland had worked on over the summer.
We sat down and talked with three seniors, Dylan Lucero, Jason Lopez, and Jordan Grado, who help to make this offense work and asked them what they think about it and where there could be some improvement.

Question:
How do you think the offense did in the first game?
Dylan: “We started out slow but got better as the game went on. It was made to wear the defense, so I think it did its job.”
Jason: “We did ok, but we got better as the game went on, and I think we were getting a little frustrated.”
Jordan: “I think the offense did great but we can still improve on a lot of things.”

How will it do down the road as the year progresses?
Dylan: “Only time will tell.”
Jason: We will learn new and better plays, but every play will work if we do our assignments right.”
Jordan: “I think we will do really well as long as we keep working hard in practice.”

Who will be the biggest challenge this year?
Dylan:
“I think it will be Mountain View because we have lost to them the past two years and they always put up a good fight.”
Jason: “Mountain View, they have beaten us both years since we started playing 3A.”
Jordan: “As long as we keep working hard in practice and pay attention in team meetings, then there shall be no challenge.”

What improvements could be made?
Dylan: “Need to work on ball security and better knowledge on line assignments.”
Jason: “Better blocks/assignments that we are supposed to do.”
Jordan: “Better ball security and more knowledge of the plays.”

The new offense shows great promise this year and will be exciting to watch. There will be big plays and high scores. So come watch your Riders dominate on the field this year.
