AJ CLAYTON SIGNS WITH OTTAWA

RHS senior AJ Clayton recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Ottawa (Kansas) University.  Ottawa is an NAIA school and is a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. Congratulations AJ! 

RIDERS READ AT KQA

Seventeen  juniors and seniors in the Roughrider Baseball program recently read to elementary school students at Knowledge Quest Academy. The event was part of the school's National Read Across America Day. The team was accompanied by Coach Jason Young, the Riders' varsity assistant coach. 

NATE TROBEE ACCEPTS COLLEGE OFFER

RHS senior Nate Trobee has accepted a scholarship offer to play baseball at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Morningside is an NAIA member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Congratulations, Nate!

ETHAN FREEMAN SIGNS WITH OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN

2011 RHS grad Ethan Freeman has signed to play next year at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville. Freeman is currently in his second year as an outfielder at McCook Community College in Nebraska.

TWO RHS ALUMS COACHING AT COLBY

Roosevelt graduates Sean Lydon and Jerry Hildreth continue to serve as assistant coaches at Colby Community College in Kansas. Lydon, who graduated from RHS in 2006, is in his 3rd year as the Trojans pitching coach. Hildreth, a 2007 RHS alum, is in his 2nd year serving as the infield and hitting coach. Both Lydon and Hildreth attended Colby CC and played for head coach Ryan Carter, who is in his 17th year as the Trojans head coach.

After graduating from RHS, Lydon first attended Trinidad State College. After one year at TSC, he transferred to Colby, where he was a standout on the mound. Lydon then spent his junior and senior seasons at Mount Olive College in South Carolina. Upon graduation, he landed a spot as a member of the Florence Freedom, an independent league professional team. Lydon then returned to Colby, where he now makes his permanent home.

Hildreth attended Colby CC for two years before transferring to Mississippi Valley State University. While at Colby, Hldreth was a team leader both on and off the field and earned All-Conference honors. At MVSU, he continued his excellent play, where he was a two-year starter and two-time All-SWAC performer. He lives in Colby during teh season and returns to Johnstown during the summer, where he works for the local recreation department.

Both Lydon and Hildreth have continued to stay connected with the RHS baseball program, as both have served as assistant coaches of the varsity teams the past two summers.
