RIDER WEEK IN REVIEW
Week of January 20, 2020
Conference season continued for girls' and boys' basketball with games against Frederick on the road and Fort Morgan at home. The girls' varsity had two heart-breaking losses, with a 1 point loss to Frederick and a 4 point loss to Fort Morgan. In the Fort Morgan game, the Riders were down by 17 points in the 3rd quarter and made a furious comeback to be down by 2 with the ball and less than 30 seconds left. While they didn't come all the way back for the victory, the girls showed tremendous heart and toughness in fighting all the way back to have the game decided on a last second shot. The boys' varsity lost both games as well, but they battled hard against Fort Morgan and they are getting a great deal of experience for a very young, but talented team.
Girls' basketball participated in the Officials v Cancer project and dedicated their participation to Superintendent Leslie Arnold.
Wrestling had a home meet with Eaton this week where they celebrated senior night and recognized their seniors Diego Leal, Miles Beam, Ethan Hays and manager Jordan Young. On Saturday, the varsity competed in the Northglen Norse Invite where Will Loecke placed 4th, Clayton Robinson placed 2nd, Diego Leal placed 2nd and Miles Beam placed 1st. The JV also competed at the Poudre JV Invite and Shug Cantu and Blake Hopkins both took 1st place! Great weekend for RHS Wrestling!
Jordan Young signed a letter of intent to attend North Platte Community College, which is a NJCAA school in North Platte Nebraska, to play softball and to study elementary education. Way to go Jordan! We are proud of you!!!
RHS Cheer is hosting a fundraiser at Dominic's Pizza and Subs and Black Sheep Eatery and Market in Johnstown on January 28 from 4-8 pm. Come out for a night of great food and good fun and help the Roosevelt High School Cheerleaders to raise money for their trip to Nationals!
This last week was a busy one for the RHS Dance Team. On Thursday night, they honored Alyssa Kruise as their Senior and they also performed at halftime of the Boys' Varsity Basketball Game.
Saturday morning, they held their Jr Dance Camp, and it was a huge success. They had 80 participants come to the camp and enjoyed the morning learning a dance to perform at halftime of the Boys' Varsity Basketball game on Friday, January 31st.
